Your uniqueness as an individual is painted in the picture taken of the heavens at the time of your birth. That picture is your natal chart. The information needed is the date of birth and place of birth. The time of birth is valuable; however, a solar chart can be used when birth time is in question. Our personal year begins on our birthday. Astrologers cast a solar return for each year in order to look at the prominent themes for the year. The time the Sun returns to the same degree as the Sun at the time of birth might not occur on your actual birthday. The write-up here is based on the sun sign and if you happen to know your rising sign, I recommend you read that as well. The shorter consultation is intended for quicker questions about time, specific choices, etc. Time flies fast when you are chatting on the phone, and some issues cannot be addressed that quickly. My preparation time may be the same as it would be for a full consultation.

We all have questions-and we would love the perfect answer. We hope the Universe will tell us exactly what will happen. Since 2005 we have shows on TV where the 'psychic' knows with absolute certainty that this will be. I watch Medium just like a million others; she wakes up following a dream in which she sees what is with absolute certainty; dead people talk to her. Does it really work like that?
I have emails in which people across the globe ask me to answer simple questions just like that--will my wife leave me, what is karma and please tell me life story. If it were that simple… As an astrologer, I consult with planetary patterns. It would be nice to call astrology a science with absolute facts. If it only were that simple… In order to see what will most likely be we need to know what happened before. In order to divine the future we need to look to the past!
I have spent years learning the intricacies of astrology. An eclipse on planet is a timer. The planetary periods activate areas of our lives and the outer planets 'inflict' slow 'transformation' based on their nature. We can see when energy moves away. For example, Saturn direct stations once a year seem to suggest that obstacles are removed in the area of life where Saturn transits have been taking place.
What kind of questions can we ask an astrologer? The typical ones, my clients seem to ask, are about when is something going to take place or be over. Astrology provides wonderful answers when it comes to timing. The credo of astrology ought to be -- timing, timing, timing. Note that if you do not know the time of your birth, the timing of events becomes less reliable.
I was writing my weekly column, and used a quote that asked "do you remember what you were worried about a year ago today?" Well, most of us don't have a foggiest notion. Daily frets and worries pass away, we only recall pleasant or powerful moments, beyond that we remember routine parts of life. However, when we have those moments that we need insights into what is going on, astrology can be a powerful tool.
How do you choose an astrologer? You need to know what questions you want answered. So when you solicit an astrologer, present your questions and ask whether they can address these. Simple, you should ask similar questions when you solicit the services of any professional.

I had to have a root canal recently, my dentist, whom I trust, would not do the work. He referred me to a specialist, who had better equipment to deal with the problem. The same applies to astrologers. There are specialties in this field as well. I for example will not offer investment advice nor claim to offer medical advice of any kind. I may suggest you need to see your doctor, because there are astrological indicators… I could not tell you that you might have diverticulitis or something else with a Latin name--I can tell you that it is more probable that you have a digestive problem.
Astrologers like any professionals, charge for their services. What should you expect to pay? The rates vary by locale and the expertise of the person--from about $70-300. The rates are not always readily listed; we do not have an insurance company that reimburses $35.20 per surface of a filling, thus, there is no standard fee schedule for all practitioners. Astrologers charge based on their experience and expertise, time involved in preparation—charts need to be cast and examined-—and how long it typically takes to address issues.
