The dates for Sun changing signs in 2008 are listed below.

July 2-8, 2008

“Aim for the moon...even if you miss you'll land amongst the stars.”

We have a new Moon in the evening of Wednesday, July 2. It's the one New Moon in Cancer this year. For Cancer Sun individuals, this is a beginning of an annual cycle through all the zodiacal signs. Why not take a moment to contemplate what your resolutions for the year ahead should be, even if your birthday was before today. For the rest of us, the New Moon marks the cycle of the month, and as this one is in the sign associated with family, mother, home and our emotional attachments, these concepts play a part in our astrological month (i.e. 30 days forward from today).

The planet of action, Mars, is in meticulous, discerning and organized Virgo until August 19. We need to follow through by ‘cleaning up' an area of our lives. Sunday and Monday, in particular, can feel exacting, as we need to analyze things and do things the right way. We may also be overly critical of others and self, feeling limited in our options—this will pass by July 11.

Horoscopes for this Week -- published on Wednesdays

Aries March 20 -April 19

Organize rather than agonize, tackle on thing at a time; attempting multi-tasking is likely to make you feel like a computer. Computers probably aren't your favourite gadget this week. If you work on one, plan to back up important data. It might be a good idea to schedule those annual medical/dental appointments over the next six weeks. Perhaps, you need to resume your exercise program and/or diet now. Family and home are important over the next four weeks. The New Moon offers fresh starts, trust your intuition and listen to family members from the heart not only from an intellectual perspective. Much of what we communicate is non-verbal.

Taurus April 19-May 20

It may sound odd, but for you romance and creative endevours are organized, scheduled and planned. Mars in this sector through August 19 adds passion, enthusiasm and vigor into your experience of romance and creativity—enjoy! We channel energy into undertakings that make us feel alive; you might enjoy sporting activities, playing or coaching others, in short you will be more physical now. The New Moon in the sector associated with our daily environment, begins a month filled with varied activity, more dealings in your neighbourhood, with neighbours, siblings and familiar people. Maybe a local business venture or joining a group sounds interesting about now.

Gemini May 20-June 20

Today's New Moon in your financial sector launches a month of budgeting, figuring out what you are worth and what things are worth to you. For you money matters are always emotional in nature, the perceived potential lack in the future typically sends you into action to prevent that from ever happening. From now through August 19, home and family matters are important. What a perfect week to de-clutter your space, get the summer schedule for the family all sorted out. Get out the pressure washer, pick up storage boxes and various organizers and get your space ‘spic and span'. Try not to get frustrated when those near and dear really don't share your passion for organizing, cleaning and scheduling.

Cancer June 20-July 22

Naturally our birthday marks a new year for us, the New Moon underscores this. It really feels like a new beginning, what would you like to see realized by the time your next birthday rolls around—these seem to occur at shorter intervals the older we get. Mars is influencing your daily life and routines until August 19. Now is an ideal time to work on getting organized with your schedules, investigate options for vocational study, and get involved in neighbourhood activities and community groups. This influence also typically means that we become busy, busy, busy, and have little time for ourselves. You like to be active with projects that benefit those in your daily life, so now you have six weeks of ‘hectic' bliss.

Leo July 22-Aug. 22

This New Moon emphasizes the need you have had of late to place things into perspective. In order to do this you may find discussions with friends and family helpful, reconnecting with people from the past to put the future into a perspective. With Mars in your money sector until August 19 you are likely to expend much energy in order to sort out financial matters, analyze potential investments with thorough scrutiny, you are naturally very discerning about money and careful about spending and sticking to a budget. August is the eclipse season, and you may feel a significant shift in your life emerging, now is the time to ‘meditate' on what you would like to do to clear the ‘decks' for a fresh start around your birthday.

Virgo Aug. 22-Sept. 22

Mars is in your sign once every two years, this time until August 19. During these times, we feel energized, ready for action and we are more assertive, at times even aggressive. For now, it is primarily about you, what has changed over the past two years that isn't to your liking? And more importantly, what are you going to do about it? The New Moon in Cancer adds to the mix, coaxing you to make new plans, the kind that feed your soul. July is ideal for heart-to-heart conversation about what you'd like to see more of in your life. All the while, in the background, not so quietly, are the changes around home and with family. Read the quote for this week, and contemplate what you would like to reach for.

Libra Sept. 22-Oct. 23

You've thought about career and work matters at length over the past year, today's New Moon brings these matters to the forefront once again. You may desire a new beginning, to be doing something you find rewarding. It's never too late to learn something new, to try something new, it's that need for security that keeps us stuck in what we know we can count on. Once every two years or so, we have six weeks during which we contemplate whether we are ready to try something different; whether we are ready to venture into something unknown. It's important to honour your need for quiet time, however, during these times, others demand our time more and the distractions are numerous.

Scorpio Oct. 23 – Nov. 20

Today's new Moon brings unfamiliar things into your life; those of us involved in publishing, promotion and with foreign people/business are busier than ever. It can be exciting to imagine new possibilities, expand our perspective and learn something new—July can be quite the ‘blur' of activity. Mars joins in by emphasizing the need to have structured, organized plans for the next two years. What are your highest priorities, and what are the things/plans you need to weed out. The days are always the same 24 hours— a friend of mine always reminds me that we should never have more projects than can be counted with the fingers in one hand.

Sagittarius Nov. 21-Dec. 21

Mars moved into your career sector and remains there through August 19. This can be a wonderful time to fine-tune your skills, be assertive about the projects you see as the highest priority and be able to work tirelessly toward perfecting the end-product. Avoid engaging in battles you cannot win or telling the ‘boss' the honest truth—most of us aren't ready for that, ‘white lies' emerged for a reason. Be patient if dealing with government agencies and other similar bureaucracies. Today's New Moon launches a month of finding new ways to handle investments, debts, obligations and monies you share with another, such as a partner or the bank.

Capricorn Dec. 21-Jan. 19

What practical action can you take to make life feel more exciting? What plans and aspirations have you had for the past year but didn't find the time, energy or opportunity to explore? Now you have energy galore, your mind is racing and you could harvest that passion and make a serious beginning. Relationships are also interesting this month; it all begins with today's New Moon. The stories you are hearing would make a wonderful book, life is truly stranger than fiction. Maybe you've always wanted to pen a story, take a course at the University or go finish that course of study to get that degree, diploma, etc. Now might be a good time to explore the possibilities.

Aquarius Jan. 20 - Feb. 18

You work the best when you feel emotionally secure. Today's New Moon accentuates relationships with co-workers and people in your daily life. You are now officially the problem solver. You are able to scout out information, find resources and very little gets by you at the moment. Your passions are evoked this month—clear through August 19—and you are engaged with life. This can be a great time for romance, committed relationships move to a new level. You demand commitment and are willing to do whatever it takes to live life to its fullest.

Pisces Feb. 19 - March 20

Today's New Moon is in your house of romance, how sweet is that? You are compassionate, empathetic and caring by nature. This month you have the opportunity to begin afresh, rekindle those flames of passion. Plan a weekend or even a holiday with those nearest and dearest. Relationships, all of them, not just the one with your partner, are in high focus throughout the month. It's an ideal time to discuss issues that hinder you from feeling happy and content. Avoid being critical or judgmental, listen with your heart not just with your mind.

The Sun Sign change dates

The Sun changes signs at slightly different times each year. This year the Sun moves into Pisces on February 18 at 5:32 AM PST and in 1950, the Sun moved to Pisces February 18 at 9:18 PM PST. So babies born on this date in 2005 year after 5:32 AM have the Sun in Pisces, but in 1950 babies born until 9:18 PM the same day had Sun in Aquarius, provided both were born in our time zone. I have changed the dates below to reflect the fact that you could be either on the dates the Sun changes sign.

The dates will vary for those born in Australia or UK for example. The Sun moves into Aquarius at 3:21 PM PST (15:21) on January 19, 2005. We are 8 hours behind GMT thus in Britain it would be 23:21 PM on the 19th and for Australia's east coast we would have to add 19 hours to the Pacific time which makes it the 20th at 10:21 AM. Therefore, it also depends on where you were born.

Void of Course Moon

Every two and a half days Moon changes from one zodiacal sign to another. In her routine travels she forms aspects with other planets, but after tha last aspect prior to changing sign she is considered void of course. Aspects are communication lines, while Moon is not making these connections with other planets she is dancing to her own tune, receiving no advise, no objections, merely seeking her own counsel. Things started while the Moon is void of course tend not to amount to much. The best use of this time is to think of it as time out. Goof off, work on routine chores, don't arrange meetings etc. as these tend to get rescheduled anyway. Things we buy during these times which can last for up to two days oir as little as minute or two tend to end up taking space, and they were simply purchased on a whim not to serve a purpose. I used to take my older vehicles through air care when the Moon was void, I figured that as the gist is - nothing will come of it - the clonkers would squeek by air care no problem - and they did. See the extended listing.

I spent a fair bit of time job hunting in the mid-nineties, all the interview times that were offered or conducted during Moon Void of Course times came to nothing. The interviews went great, wonderful conversations and good learning tool for the next one. I have an article on the site about the Moon and the Void of Course Moon.

The dates for the horoscopes vary between different sources. The word cusp became popular to describe this fact. However, the Sun does move about with precision, by knowing the time, date and location we can calculate where the Sun is with precision. You can have two people born on the same date and one is a Capricorn Sun and the other an Aquarius. Where you were born is important. There is a free chart calculator at the bottom of the order reports page. You need to know the date, time and city/town of birth.
